Background of the Study

Adolescents face unique reproductive health challenges, including limited access to sexual health education, high rates of unintended pregnancies, and increased vulnerability to sexually transmitted infections (STIs) (WHO, 2024). Digital health platforms, including mobile applications, social media, and telehealth services, have been increasingly utilized to provide adolescents with reliable reproductive health information and services (Ibrahim & Yusuf, 2024).

In Taraba State, where cultural and social factors often limit open discussions about adolescent reproductive health, digital health platforms offer a private and accessible means of obtaining critical information (Adepoju & Salami, 2024). However, the extent to which these platforms influence adolescent reproductive health awareness and behavior has not been fully explored. This study evaluates the role of digital health platforms in promoting adolescent reproductive health in Taraba State.

Statement of the Problem

Despite efforts to improve adolescent reproductive health, many adolescents in Taraba State continue to face barriers in accessing accurate information and healthcare services (Abubakar & Hassan, 2024). While digital health platforms have emerged as a potential solution, their effectiveness in improving adolescent reproductive health awareness and practices remains uncertain.

This study assesses the effectiveness of digital health platforms in educating adolescents about reproductive health and encouraging positive health behaviors in Taraba State.

Objectives of the Study

  1. To assess adolescents' awareness and knowledge of reproductive health issues in Taraba State.
  2. To evaluate the effectiveness of digital health platforms in promoting adolescent reproductive health.
  3. To identify challenges associated with using digital health platforms for reproductive health education.

Research Questions

  1. What is the level of adolescent reproductive health awareness in Taraba State?
  2. How effective are digital health platforms in promoting reproductive health education?
  3. What challenges affect the successful adoption of digital health platforms for reproductive health education?

Research Hypotheses

  1. Digital health platforms have no significant impact on adolescent reproductive health awareness.
  2. There is no significant relationship between digital health platform usage and reproductive health knowledge.
  3. Challenges in digital health access do not significantly affect reproductive health outcomes.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

This study focuses on adolescents in Taraba State using digital health platforms for reproductive health education. Limitations include disparities in digital access, internet connectivity issues, and differences in digital literacy levels.
